Thanks for letting us know! I haven't been following this game, but I usually enjoy betas so I signed up.
After watching a couple of videos, this games seems to be really enjoyable when played with friends.
Yeah, I consider this a true transition between the current game style, and Gw2. It still uses the tried and true question style. Run around picking quests up off NPC's, it uses the holy trinity. Yet it goes a step forward by really changing the actual gameplay, it's active dynamic (on that note it doesnt use targeted skills like GW2, it's skill shots I think)... your positioning is important. I feel like this is a really good game to play before hoping into GW2 so that learning curve of combat mechanics is much less. Just my opinion though, looks really fun. Super hoping I can snag beta access. Just got my Pc all sorted with everything needed to make Game videos. Photoshop, Vegas, After effects, Bandicam (seriously way better than fraps) and an external hard drive for storage. Need something to test it all out on now!
Yup, a pal on Steam poked me regarding the sign ups so I'm all set up, though I have to say... having stopped watching this from about this point 2 years ago after the disappointment that was the unveiling of a 'high school prom date scout out' manner of electing someone into a diplomatic post; and one that could not be swayed by PvP ability I kind of gave up on it. Then I saw they modified it to include political sway via PvP ability too.... then the game released in Korea finally. All seemed promising: it apparently had managed to attract a few thousand more players during its open beta than Aion had done so previously, however... its commercial success was far from being secured from this statistic alone.
As it turned out, it suffered from a sharp stab of decline in its once thought of as healthy playerbase within a matter of a month or two. It flopped essentially; and would you believe top grind-a-holics like the Koreans chalked a lack of content up to blame, pah! Fancy that. On the flipside, I hear Aion is still holding out fairly strong across the far eastern borders, contrary to similar complaints us western hemisphere inhabitants had to say about it.
I'll still play it, for what it's worth and I owe it my due in playtime for the amount of time I'd tracked its progress before - since 2008 I believe. It'll fill in the gaps towards the more substantial and intriguing MMORPG releases. I think... I remember having my eyes on the lancer class at first, then berserker... then had my focus continuously flit in between those two choices. I only like my casters in one flavour - EQ style enchanter or mentalist or... as it turns out, mesmer. So it's back into a plate marauder type for me again - not that I mind, it's my single most played out role across all of my collective MMO experiences after all.
While still on the subject of K-MMOs though, I have my wary eye on a title called Blade & Soul (or Blade & Boobies as some may prefer to hail it as...). However... it is ArcheAge that seems to present itself as the diamond in the rough; there's something of a hooking appeal to it, and I think it's because in some respects it relates back to my one-time PvE love... Vanguard. That game, was just soooooo underappreciated it's incredible, and I blame SOE's lack of support shown towards it as the sole blame. It was the game, that for me, was deserving of the RPG suffix tag of an MMO. It really moved me. The amount of freedom, so top notch; and it's elements of freedom like this that entrances this old wanderer's soul. I await to see more of it with avid interest; so much so I've chosen to overlook its decision to incorporate a stone-age type battle system; namely click to target.
Had some thoughts about signing up for the beta, but a friend decided to persuade me into pre-ordering it. Now I have to think of a class to play and they all seem like too much fun!![]()
I bought the mini pre-order for under a fiver, access to all CBT's. I will probably be playing... A Caster in the Sneak Peak then a Lancer through the CBT Phases. My Character name will be Venomania. Anyone also playing is free to Add me, I hear that questing works much faster in groups. I will be recording every beta phase and uploading to youtube also, provided I have enough storage space
You can order Digital PreOrder - Digital Retail - Digital CE from their site, located Here
The Mini PreOrder, the one I bought. Dirt cheap get's you into each CBT phase and if you buy the Digital it takes the Price of the Mini off the Price of the retail. So not too shabby.
You also get some tid bits described on the link above. Worth it for £4 tbh lol
I'll be playing in the second server Arborea;
Spoiler:
Dat kitty elin... *shakes head tut-tutting* I wonder how closely it resembles ANet's original artisitic impression of the femme fatales of the charr cast - I remember reading something disturbing along the lines of making them 'cute and sexy' at first. Brr.
Also... lancer + elin.... .... .... ?! NOES! Why has thou proven himself to be a well-kept moonlighting member of the goon platoon? The ones that adore such class to race mismatches.../feignedoutrage (Most likely a joke toon I'm guessing... I hope. =S)
Scenery's looking as good as I remember it, dash it all... if only I had my computer in working order; I'd be rolling out my once planned castanic berserker right now - and no, not for the obvious reasons of scarcely hidden fanny packs... mine would most certainly be a dude. *is aware of their own aesthetic style* *is not homo* *really really*
