  • Live and Let Dye – Kristen Perry on the GW2 Dye System | ArenaNet

In this new ArenaNet article, Kristen Perry, character artist and clothing designer tells us more about the creative dye system in Guild Wars 2. It's much more enhanced than known dye systems, for an interesting read on this subject, head on over to the ArenaNet website.

I’ve been thinking for months now about how to describe the new dye system to you, which has been completely redesigned and is much more flexible than the original. There’s one big change I knew would surprise the “dye hard” fans, so I figured I should reveal that information first. Besides, if we all have the collective gasp at the beginning, I’ll know at least everyone will have a full tank of oxygen in their brains to read the rest of the article.
After the release of this article, Massively published a more into-depth interview with Kristen Perry.

I thought the male humans looked like some sort of shamans, maybe that's a one of the new classes

edit: also I like the way dyes look.

I cannot wait to be able to mingle with the given dyes, to see the dye system in action for myself. I think it has improved a lot compared to the current, Guild Wars 1 dye system. Not to mention that you no longer have to pay like 8 platinum just to get your hands on a black dye, the whole obtainable for the whole account thing sounds great.

Yay, no more trying to mix colours, only to find that they look totally different on your character :) Colour unlocks through gameplay, and account wide unlocks is an excellent way to present dyes. As Blight says, the black dye situation in GW1 was a little silly, though I still have 13 in my storage
