Greetings to all,

On behalf of the guild, I am proud to present to you…Unlimited.

Keep in mind as you read that all of the leaders who put this guild together are full-time professional adults with families, friends, and other real life commitments/responsibilities. While our aim is to find people who already have a great deal of confidence in their PvP abilities, we do not expect this game to become “life”.

Guild Philosophy
For some, the overall enjoyment of the online gaming experience is amplified by the company they keep, to the point where it trumps the game’s content itself. Unlimited is dedicated to building a guild around the quality of players we invite, rather than the need to be the most or best “anything”. That’s not to say that our practices will not include a competitive edge; in fact, we see ourselves in the top tiered PvP ranks of Guild Wars 2. Unlimited members are players who seek to explore the extent of their ability and perform beyond them. Steady progression and skill improvement are important, parallel to community relations. Being skillful at something should not be a license to put others down, rather to be a leader among peers to help steer them toward the same achievement you have reached.

Guild Expectations - Our full code of conduct can be found here. Some key points:

Be active and participate
Be mature, be friendly, remain open-minded, and excel in a progressive environment that aims for PvP excellence.
Love the Challenge
Value and respect fellow players – We want people who enjoy the company of others and consider “game friends” an important piece to their online gaming experience.
Play within all ethical guidelines of gaming set forth by common sense and the Guild Wars 2 EULA

Breaking Borders - Server Unity
We are not "The stuck-up Elite". Unlimited will strive to improve the gaming experience of its members as well as the overall server community. WvWvW offers a wonderful opportunity for guilds to combine their PvP efforts and we will take every moment we can to work on our relations with the server to ensure that we are all successful.

We’re Not Just PvP!
Just because PvP is our focus does not mean we will not appreciate the PvE content that Guild Wars 2 has to offer. With the same vigor, we will approach and dominate PvE content.

Are you interested?
There is still plenty of time for people to look for guilds, so we won’t ask you to join us. Rather, take a look at us, join us on our forum/teakspeak and get to know us. Forming bonds between members prior to the release of Guild Wars 2 is at the top of our list of priorities. Going into Guild Wars 2 with a strong foundation capable of working together and communicating effectively will make the progression toward PvP excellence a smoother task. Having this open and friendly environment will also make it easier for new members to hop in and feel welcome.

In order to strengthen these bonds, Unlimited has chosen a couple of games to take part in. These games offer similar gaming experiences (MMORPG/strategy) that Guild Wars 2 will offer, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and quick decision-making.

Anyone who joins is welcome to participate with us, however, understanding that some games are just not for some people, we will not force anyone to play with us and are just as happy getting to know people on the forum and through Teamspeak. If you would like to participate with us as a method of deciding whether Unlimited is the right guild for you, don't hesitate to join our forum, post a topic and/or contact a guild member directly. Too many guilds out there, not just for Guild Wars 2, exist for the wrong reasons. At the top of the list is this incredible obsession with size – the need of selfish leaders to have the most “underlings” in their “control”. Their enjoyment of the game comes solely from this control and should their guild fail (most inevitably do crumble under the weight of their own member count), the leaders quit the game and move onto their next game, bolstering their numbers for the new failure.

However, there is hope. A number of guilds exist for the right reasons, creating groups in which the need for numbers in a guild is surpassed by the goal of a cohesive group in which everyone plays their role effectively and no one is just a number. These groups often launch themselves to be among the elite within the overall gaming community; not solely as a force to be reckoned with, but also as one that is respected and admired.

I am very pleased to report that Unlimited is growing at a steady pace, carefully selecting the right members while allowing those who apply make sure they are selecting the right guild for them too. For us, the members we have become more than just fellow gamers, but family. Our member count evenly matches our activity count with every member having a reason to be here now, and a reason to stay in the future.

If Unlimited is not the guild for you, I implore you to do your research and find a guild that is suitable in every way. Be wary of those guilds that search for a huge member count; if you look carefully, you’ll find that of their “hundreds of members”, only about a fourth (generously) of them have been actually “active” within the guild since their first week in. Be more than a number and find something incredible.

While we have no "official game of choice" until GW2 is released, a number of members (nearly all at this point) have become involved with League of Legends. Several also play (in no particular order) dungeon defenders, Battlefield 3, and Starcraft 2.

In addition, several people are involved already (as former testers) or hoping to become involved with the TERA beta which was recently announced. We have no plans to play TERA on release, but it's worth kicking around in the meantime.

All in all, we get involved with just about anything people bring up and play at our leisure. We've grown as close group rather quickly and eagerly look for opportunities to get involved in the games our fellow members are playing. So even if we don't play anything you currently play, you may find that you can pull interest for your "game of choice" and have others to pass the time with.

Very cool zigzag. That answers my question. I don't play too many games, just waiting on Guild Wars 2 as well. Although I'm waiting to try the TERA beta. Might be fun.

Are you all doing the "5 person approval" for guild entry?

No. As our current application process notes at the bottom, we are not using the entire application process prior to the release of the game. It would be rather difficult to have current members gauge the abilities of future members for a game that does not exist. Nor do we support the use of skill in other games as "complete indicators" of what to expect come GW2 release.

Oh, I missed the big orange text.

That is true, which is why I was wondering whether or not the application process was actually open for Guild Wars 2, or if you all just wanted to get your name out there.

There's an app for pre-release right now that differs from our post launch app. We are currently screening people via interviews after the informal pre-launch app is filled out on our sire. -> Unlimited - Application Process

Amidst the excitement in early January of charr plush restocking and awards for a game that has not been released yet, the masses here at Unlimited eagerly await open beta information to be released by ArenaNet. It seems that with each passing day, the amount of solid information released dwindles as the speculation gains motion. The excitement for Guild Wars 2 seems to be growing rapidly and reaching new audiences. With all these new people checking out the game and searching for their pre-launch guilds, Unlimited finds itself reaching it's "ideal roll cap".

Essentially, we have a number in mind; a point at which we see a suitable roll population while still offering us the ability to do some careful in-game recruitment to fill profession gaps. The community is solid; gaming together on a regular basis, learning each others' personalities and helping us realize the goals that were set forth upon the creation of this guild.

We encourage anyone looking for a guild and considering Unlimited to take the time to speak with us personally as the number of spots is filling up; don't miss the opportunity to be a part of something competitive, team (family) oriented, and dedicated to excellence in Guild Wars 2.

Unlimited has gone international!

As things had gotten underway, and Unlimited began to take shape, the majority of our members have been North American. Our tag on fansites such as this one have been labeled "[NA]" to boot. Undergoing a recent growth spurt we have taken on members outside of the North American bracket and have decided it's time to shred away the "[NA]" tag. Our doors were never closed to those outside the North American circuit, however, we've just not had such vested interest shown until now. So with our new members from Europe we push out of our norm and are besting international lines.

Our intention is now to fill that bracket of time with international players, and North American players who play during the set times that someone from the GMT time zones will be participating. To be very clear, we are not initiating an international side to Unlimited. On the contrary we are looking to only expand our horizons. The international population will mesh just the same into our community, our family, as anyone from North America would. We are strongly opposed to segregation within our ranks, thus those who join us from across the seas will take up arms with us under one banner, "Unlimited".

We encourage anyone, from anywhere, looking for a guild and considering Unlimited to take the time to speak with us personally as the number of spots is filling up; don't miss the opportunity to be a part of something competitive, team (family) oriented, and dedicated to excellence in Guild Wars 2.

Hey, nice to know a guild this thorough is spreading its wings out into other demographic regions of the world. Really the line that caught out my attention was, "While our aim is to find people who already have a great deal of confidence in their PvP abilities, we do not expect this game to become “life”."

I'm one of those people, that while identifies themselves as hardcore... also likes to reserve the right to kick back and just say NO to said hardcore elements - even though for the most part I end up participating, I just like to know I have that option open to me.

It's the one thing that prevents me from joining HC guilds now; having been in my fair share of them now... I'm tired of a barking dictatorship where the leader's word is the stuff of gospels... and a lot of the time my 'superiors' have been woefully wrong in their manner of tackling a particular problem in a fight - both in a verbose diplomatic sense and an actual battle.

Well done for nurturing a sound yet modest paradigm of guild ethics. I'll be keeping my eye open to this one.
