    Icon51 GW2 Cook

I cant wait 4 this game. Im am going to be a cook/leather smith. The reason i am rolling cook because i am rolling a Thief as my main and from wat i seen cooks are considered "support" and since Thieves lack support skills (i know they are good at dmg and control) but with cook skills i know i can at least buff my allies out of combat which could help out in wvw or events. But i wonder if they will have like a insta heal snack? What you guys think?

I don't know everything that they will produce but it's supposed to be one of the more involved or difficult crafting professions so I'm in

Am going to do some cooking in the beta and write a nice article about it. Cooking is always my prefered choice, always underrated.

I love cooking irl, in Aion I was a cook too, in other games I did apothecary or alchemy. I think I'll go for cooking in this game too, buffs are always handy to have.

Proud Guild leader of Imperium in GW2 !

Marioz, I waited till the last hours of the beta to try cooking, having gathered materials for 30+.

    I can tell you this:
    1. It is somewhat expensive, as you need to buy a lot of vendor ingredients - cooking oils, seasoning, dough, butter - to name a few of the lower level ones (and even those I mentioned are compound - for example, you buy yeast + water + flour to make dough). This makes it a bad skill to pick at the very start, however, note that changing your skills costs absolutely nothing.
    2. Cooking takes up A LOT of bag space. It is a concern for sure, so I'd advice you to collect cooking ingredients and store them in your bank (I'm sure you'll buy extra vault or two) and only cook when near your 30s and with much bigger bags (I leveled tailor for that) - handing out buff foods might be useful for your Ascalon Catacombs party.
    3. I discovered about a dozen recipes I could make (finished product) and bought a dozen more from karma merchant. It is certainly complicated and not everything is useful - it helps if you've got real cooking knowledge :)
    4. You can have only one buff from a food item at the same time.
Edit: 5. Did not see a food, which gives you health. Most were +stat or +condition damage or +healing, to give you an idea. Some gave you a bonus if you were knocked out in the next <time interval>. Definitely interesting and engaging.

Like you, I am excited about reaching the heights of the cooking profession - just don't rush it at the start :)
