    Press Beta Invites already out

    Johnathon Ross - Destructoid
"Invites are out for the Guild Wars 2 beta weekend. Expect an impressions post on Destructoid from me later this month!"

    Devin Connors - Tomsguide
"GUILD WARS 2 BETA! Operation High-Five Everyone In Sight is go!"

    Charles Onyett- IGN
"Guild Wars 2 beta invite acquired. Look for coverage at 6 AM pacific on February 20."

Looks like were finally getting under way with GW2 progression. Open Beta feels so close the wait is killing me

I’m unable to get solid numbers as to ruffly how many press are in this closed beta, however I’ve seen a handful of tweets telling us directly. On the 20th at 6am [They clearly can’t wait themselves] a ton of information from them will be posted.

With that said, I’m a little worried about this, because I don’t particularly rank press very high on the skill scale. They always come across to me, as rather mid level with just a passing interest. With my specific interest being in PvP, both structured and WvW. I’ve fallen to have no expectations for any WvW information. Having assumed the size of this CBT being far to small to offer up much there. I’m left with only the prospects of Structured PvP reviews.

It’s because of this I’m quite worried, and hoping from the deepest chasm of my soul these reviews are all text based. With little to no in game footage. You see, when I watch footage of people playing and they continuously make the same mistakes over and over. Be it because they’re thinking more about what they’re saying for the video or perhaps due to their own low skill level. It has the potential to really turn me off. A good example is an old GW2 event demo where some young woman was steering the thief while a gentleman was commentating. She died a few times and you could clearly hear this poor guy trying to smooth it all over. That video alone has turned me right off Thief's *although I did not have much of an interest in the first place despite having played Rogue for years*

Do you guys have any pet peeves that rise in you doubt about the upcoming information bonanza?

Press betas were a good choice. They need te make as much publicity as they can in the coming months. The hype train however, can only be ridden by fans. I truly hope they give the people that love the game unconditionaly the next invites, they will be the ones turning every stone with a smile.

I for one can't wait to start on my first (video)articles.

I'm waiting patiently to write tons of awesome stuff, getting into Beta would give me a head start on formulating ideas and getting them onto paper. But honestly my only pet peeve when it comes to Press Coverage is oftentimes they try so hard to cover everything that they are too general and don't really give any useful information whatsoever.

There might be some information they aren't allowed to release.

Oh, I know that. But I'd be able to get a head start on several articles and have them ready for when the NDA goes down.

As far as I've read, in march & april they will be inviting more people from the GW2 community. They also mentioned that the invites being sent out in february aren't only press-invites. More people are participating now than we think, I guess. I'm just hoping the march & april invites include a bit of luck as well, I'd love one of our writes to start their newswriting campaign just to set up some decent stuff for when the NDA is lifted. Right now I don't expect us to be on their radar for invites, so I'm just keeping my fingers and toes crossed for some good luck.
