I think everyone should be prepared for a mass of odd-balls when GW2 launches, everybody and his dog will be in with us :) On the plus side, it will be hard for anyone to figure out who the good players are in the persistent world, which is a good thing imo.
@Tarkol. I think you are right about it being an internet thing, 8 years ago, the internet was relatively new and people still tended to treat each other as they do in the real world. Now people have grown up with it, or take it for granted as a world without consequences (untrue). I still believe though that the general ethos of Arenanet will permeate the new community, making it less abrasive.
@XXX. The guild per character aspect you mention is a point worth remembering, it will allow players to use different guilds for different playstyles. I have been working on a post about guilds, but will hold back until I either get time to finish it, or more information arrives from Arenanet :)
