Supplement to Sir Cusfreak's post #10 above, will there actually be anything to farm in GW2?

I may be wrong, check what I say
There are several ways of looking at this. First, let's tackle weapons. It has been stated with the Necro as an example, that you can change those weapons skills based on the type of weapon you pick up. A curses staff will have a different skill set than a blood staff would for example. That adds to how you can sculpt your build, seeing as how you can have 1 handed/offhand item, dual weapons, 2 handed weapon. You can mix curses dagger with blood dagger. Now, that's just on the 5 weapon slots.
Next, let's look at your 5 other skills. You will have a healing skill slot, an elite skill slot, then 3 utility slots. The healing and elite skills we can set aside for this example so we can focus on the 3 utility slots. These slots haven't had a lot touched on, but you can assume they would be class specific skills that aren't based on weapons, and you can slot these freely. That will give you more room to find the builds of old.
Now, let's talk about talent points. As you progress, you'll optain talent points that will allow you to modify existing skills in a variety of ways. That alone gives you WAY more options as to how you can modify and create a build. You could put your points strictly into areas of the skill that deals damage, points put into possibly AoE skills only for example, making you great for nuke damage. You could put them into defensive skills, making you very hard to kill.
Lastly, attribute points. As you level up, you'll gain attribute points that will alter your stats. This will in turn be able to boost your HP further, make you harder to hit, bigger energy pool, etc. Without knowing a full skill set list, it's hard to determine exactly if you'll be able to use things to raise/lower your HP to hit those sweet spots when all your skills click...but it's safe to say the ingenuity of the people will find new, better builds with all the new toys at their disposal.
Ah, the joys of being a Necromancer. I can kill you, bring you back, and kill you again.
I haven't seen anything that says that Blood, Death, or Curses lines exist at all - I have seen personal attributes like Intellegence, Perception, Charisma, etc., but not skill lines. Also haven't seen anything to say that if Curses/Blood/Death do exist that items will be tied into these specs, especially melee items - nor that item type makes different skills - axe A gives skill set XYZ, Axe B gives skill set ABC instead...It has been stated with the Necro as an example, that you can change those weapons skills based on the type of weapon you pick up. A curses staff will have a different skill set than a blood staff would for example. That adds to how you can sculpt your build, seeing as how you can have 1 handed/offhand item, dual weapons, 2 handed weapon. You can mix curses dagger with blood dagger.
they are not talent point they are called traits but they do the same thing in the end u can see what is known so far at Trait - Guild Wars 2 Wiki (GW2W) just click on the "full list" under the profession u are intrested in.
also when i ment with the ranger pets was if you could have more then 3 pets, the three u have can be ure active pets but can u have more then 3 and have a methiod of storing them where you dont always have access to them but it keeps you from having to get rid of pets you started lvling and didnt use alot but in some cases u could use alot knowing the environment you are going into, like if u have a wolf, bear, and a spider as the 3 pets u can call on but you have a shark in cold storage and you know you are going to be doing stuff underwater so a shark can be usefull at least more so then a spider for the period u are going to be underwater, can you go and swap out the spider for the shark for a day then swap back without having to go and get a new spider without having to go through the evolution levels by going to a certain place or talking to someone? a place kinda like the Zaishen Menagerie from GW1
Warms my heart to just stand there and watch something hostile get chased down by my giant pet spider
