    Questions for GW2's developers

If you found yourself unexpectedly surprise-landed in a Q&A with Colin, Jeff, Eric, Rea, Jon and Izzy...what would you ask them?

Leave out the things like "what are the other 4 professions" and "what are the HoM rewards for achievements in GW1?" and anything that contains the words 'Beta' or 'release date.' ok? just dont. These, they will give you in due time. What ELSE do you want to know?

i'm gonna say yes, in the ranger demo video there was a window pulled up and there were three "paw" buttons on the left of the pop up window. the top one had a photo of the ranger's bears with its attributes and skills. if i had to take a wild guess the other two "paw" buttons would be for the inactive pets. the first shot of the window is at about 4 minutes. whether its for different type of pets; water (don't know if that's something to be tossed in), melee, and or aviary ones?! that'd be pretty neat, death from bird poop.

and then at 7:30 the ranger is at the temple of ages standing at the water. window comes back up, he clicks on the bear icon and he disapears (the bear was standing right next to the ranger at the time). i think that confirms, to some extent, the 3 inactive pets that be called up at anytime, again, to some extent.

Ok, so I have 3 questions that I really wonder.

    1. How, exactly, do we reserve names, especially PvP names. (yes i am still on this one)

    2. Are there methods of avoiding idiots, jerks, and grief-ers, such as the ignore list and turning off certain chats? Let's face it, they exist in games. I really don't like a lot of people, and there have been many times in outposts I have found the 1st game to be MUCH better with the local chat turned off. Can I continue to love the game without having to deal with religious nuts or the type of people who would run up and 'hump' people with the male warr dance, or squat over fallen foe with /sit on a 'sin or Ranger?

    3. I know the personal story is all solo, but will solo content be required to advance the overall story? Things like Tihark Orchard, where solo content is the only way to finish the game.

    1. GW2 Wiki
Characters from the original Guild Wars campaign will not be migrated to play in Guild Wars 2. Guild Wars 2 will be a fresh start. Some items and weapons players earn in the original Guild Wars campaign may be redeemed for rewards in Guild Wars 2 through the Hall of Monuments which is available to players who have Guild Wars Eye of the North, however players will not be able to migrate the exact items or titles they obtained in Guild Wars. Names will also be reserved through this system.
-> Nothing more is known. They said to make an official article on the HoM very soon.

    2. Although I can't find an official source, it has been asked for by alot of players and it is on the "suggestions page" of the friends list on GW2wiki. I can't see why this would not be in the game.

    3. Again, I can't find a decent source for this, though I'm sure it has been mentioned somewhere as well. All I can say for sure is that chosing an order is necesary to advance in certain quests, so I'm guessing you'll need to keep up with your personal story as well. I'm sure someone else can give a better answer and give a good link to an article explaining how this works.

I wonder if the grandiose eotn hom for gw1 chars will be transformed down to a hallway in your gw2 "house". Like a family portrait type thing where framed paintings of your hall and of your char/chars (linked to the account) will be hanging. and depending on your race they'll somehow incorporate why a human is important to a char for some reason. idk. just a thought.

Me again, I have another one for them.

One of my favorite aspects in GW was build-making. Listening to early GW2 reports, I started off *extremely* concerned when I heard there were no second proffesions. I sort of had my concerns eased somewhat along the way, but the more I look at it, the more I think that the opportunities for creativity in build-making are just gone.

For example, I remember when the 55 build was created. That, my friends, was honest-to-goodness player ingenuity. Will we have the opportunities in GW2 to create builds that break molds?

You have, for example, a Necro. He will have a bar that is based on an axe. He will have another bar that is based on a staff, and another based on a wand/offhand, and another one based on daggers. Thats great variety, I'm not questioning that - there's a lot of choices, there. But what it seems to boil down to is a choice of several 'prefab' bars, but with no skill combos creatively added by the player. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what it looks like.

Resto-Necros, 600's, 55's, Spawning-Based MMs, Cry teams, Shadow-stepping Dervs, SoS rangers, Jihad Necro-Bombers, 1hp BiPs, Signet of Illusion nukers, these are just a few examples of how players pieced bars together in creative ways, and the game wouldn't have been GW without them. There was once an old build, before AotL became a minion skill, that would allow a Necro to Tank better than any warrior, monk, or sin ever dreamed of. Will we get the chance to think outside the box and have a hand in build-choice?

I've heard devs answer the builds question by pointing out how much variety there is in possible skill bars in the new system, but I would really like to hear them address the difference between variety and player creativity, and whether those players who spent time creating builds that not everyone would have thought of will have opportunities to do so again in GW2.
